Roots respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our website, app, and related services.

Information We Collect

We collect information you enter, information generated when you use Roots, and information from your device or connected services. Some data is optional, but an account and profile need certain details to work.

• Account and profile details you provide, including name, email address, date of birth, age, gender, height, occupation, education, interests, preferences, heritage, ethnicity, religion, and other profile answers.
• Photos, videos, voice recordings, prompts, messages, likes, matches, reports, and support requests you create in the app.
• Location you select or permit the device to share, including city and, when you grant location permission, precise coordinates. City-search queries are sent to our location provider to return suggestions.
• Subscription status and purchase history from the app stores and our subscription provider. Payment card details are handled by the app store, not entered into Roots.
• Account and device identifiers, push tokens, IP address, app interactions, crash reports, performance information, and diagnostics from the app and its service providers.

How We Use Information

We use personal data only when we have a valid reason to do so, including to provide the service, improve safety, and support users.

• Create and maintain accounts.
• Check age eligibility and power profiles, discovery, matching, compatibility, messaging, calls, and subscriptions.
• Show the profile details and content you choose to share to other members, and deliver messages and interactions to their intended recipients.
• Send verification, account, support, safety, and service communications.
• Investigate reports, detect misuse, enforce our rules, secure accounts, and maintain service performance.
• Understand app usage and improve Roots through analytics when usage analytics is enabled. Essential diagnostics and crash reporting support app stability and security.

Who Receives Information

Other members can see the profile information you make visible and the content you send them. We also use service providers for cloud hosting and storage, authentication, email and notifications, location search, analytics and crash reporting, subscriptions, support, and voice or video calls. These providers receive only the information needed to deliver those services. We require providers that handle member data on our behalf to protect it to a level consistent with this policy and applicable law.

We may disclose information when required by law, to respond to valid legal requests, or to protect the safety and rights of members and others.

Data Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, and disclosure.

Data Retention

We keep account data while your account is active. Deleting an account deactivates it and removes it from discovery immediately; the app schedules permanent deletion after a 30-day recovery period. Logging in during that period can cancel the request. Deleting the app does not cancel an app-store subscription.

Some limited records may be retained longer when needed for billing, legal obligations, fraud prevention, safety investigations, dispute resolution, or audit requirements. We delete or de-identify them when those purposes no longer require retention.

Your Choices and Rights

You can edit profile details, turn off usage analytics in Settings, and revoke device permissions such as location, camera, or microphone through your device settings. Essential security and crash diagnostics may still be processed. In the app, Settings provides Download Data and Delete Account. You can also send privacy requests to contact@rootsafrodating.com.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data.

• Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction or deletion of your personal data.
• Object to or restrict certain processing.
• Request transfer of your personal data where applicable.
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

Third-Party Links

Roots may include links to third-party websites, tools, or app stores. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their privacy practices.
